Ok so this probably makes me a bit of a crazy person, but I got a dog a couple of weeks ago. I first started considering getting a dog because of a dream. I had the dream the night after my grandfather's funeral. In the dream he got a white and red puppy with a black nose a few weeks before he died. He named the puppy Saxon and loved the puppy so much. Then he died and he left the puppy to me in the will saying, "And I leave my beloved Saxon to my granddaughter Christina. I know that you will take the best care of him, Christina, make me proud." There was more to the dream than that, but that really stuck with me. It planted the "I want a dog" seed and I started looking.
I looked on Petfinder, Adoptapet, Craigslist and Uncle Henry's (a local classified site). I found my dog (a 5 month old Staffordshire Bull Terrier) on Uncle Henry's. I know I should have adopted, but my mom always said that getting a dog from a family that doesn't want it anymore is like getting the dog before it has to go to the shelter. I guess that stuck with me, too. His old family got him from a SBT breeder a few months ago. They found him to be too difficult and frustrating so they decided that they shouldn't have pets anymore. We've been working on leash training and manners, and he's doing pretty well! He looks almost exactly like the dog in my dream, the only difference is the one in my dream had red over both eyes. His name with his old family was Ollie, but my we didn't think it fit him, so I thought we should name him Saxon like in my dream! He's taking to the name really well! He is really a great dog! And I'm happy he is with us now! Here's some pictures! Enjoy!
